“The needs are staggering. The pain is real. And the hearts of people are open.”
This is the summary of the situation in Ukraine right now, in the words of FEBC National Director Eduard Kurylenko. Eduard called this wartime season for Ukraine a “pivotal moment,” and describes it as a privilege to share the message of Christ with countless listeners.
“As people come to us with their questions and fears, they are open to hear the good news.” As a result of the dreadful war, FEBC Ukraine reports that people are putting their trust in God for eternal life and asking to know about Jesus. Teens, young women, whole families, widows, orphans, and wounded and disabled soldiers are all following Christ.
Eduard and his team are aware that the world is growing “Ukraine weary.” A sad comment in a world with too many wars to think about all at once. During a recent rocket attack on Kyiv the broadcasting and counselling teams were shaken out of their relatively quiet afternoon.
“A missile struck very near our broadcast offices and studios. The walls shook, and some staff gasped and cried… but they continued broadcasting and counselling callers. That same day several listeners gave their lives to the Lord!” Eduard reported. (picture above is soon after the explosions rocked Kyiv)
Eduard says thank you New Zealand: “We stand here as fragile vessels, entrusted with the most profound message: God made us and loves us. He knows what we’re going through. He has forgiven us for our sins and given us Jesus. Come to him all you who are weary and heavy laden. Turn to Jesus.”
Thanks to your support, people in Ukraine who are so desperately seeking hope, can hear and know that they are loved and have a life eternal beyond the war zone they live in.
