Seeking freedom was my sole purpose for escaping North Korea

“North Korea is a self-isolated country that lacks all freedom. Countless people die from hunger.

“Seeking freedom was my sole purpose for escaping North Korea and coming to the Republic of Korea (South Korea). Back in college, the government forced people to watch executions to arouse fear in us. With my own eyes, I witnessed the executions of two Christians in North Korea. I watched my family starve to death. I lost everything I had.

“When I took my first footstep into China, I had to face a whole new way of living. I couldn’t believe people could sell products without guards present, as no one was trying to steal food here.

“In 1998, my first year in China, a missionary told me about Jesus Christ and I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior. Jesus came into my life through a missionary and changed my life. This missionary was not afraid of anything. Even death could not stop him from proclaiming the Gospel.

“With 17 other people, he was eventually captured by the North Korean government and then executed. However, through him I was able to hear the Good news.

“I trust God’s goodness for all time. I will never stop spreading the Good News to the world.”

He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.
This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary;
from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
To hear the groaning of the prisoner;
to loose those that are appointed to death;
To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;
When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.    (Psalm 102:17-22)
