Our newest FM station is on-air with test broadcasts, and the audience is not what was expected! While we anticipated a reach of around 300,000 people, early indications are that the listening audience is more like half a million! Merry Christmas Kyrgyzstan!
This is Station Director Jaynsh with Ulanbek running tests on the transmitter. Janysh says
“We will be the first Gospel station here. For this we need your prayer, and your financial support to set up this station and hold it on air.
I really want to say Thanks to God, that FEBC has a radio ministry here in Kyrgyzstan that helps me to reach, and to love my people. Thank you.”
FEBC has been broadcasting on OK FM in Bishkek since 2012. These programmes are family-focused and speak biblically to a culturally Muslim nation. This newest station in Issyk-Kul will relay the main programmes from Bishkek, and mark a great step forward as we widen our audience and impact in Central Asia.
Rudi Wiens is Regional Coordinator for Eurasia and works closely with Janysh in Kyrgyzstan. He recently wrote to thank New Zealand and other nations who’re helping to build a Christian witness in Central Asia.
“In our Kyrgyz broadcasts, we often talk about good and godly relationships. Many people, especially in this culturally Muslim environment, struggle with this issue and are open to good counsel. We know that real help comes from the Lord, thus we try to direct them to salvation in Jesus.”
Please pray that the reach and impact of this new station will be especially great as we tell the real Christmas story for the first time over the next few months, and that many would be astonished at the wisdom and understanding of Christ.
